Sci-Fi Channel has confirmed word from "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski that trailers for its upcoming telemovie, "Babylong 5: Legend of the Rangers" will be screened before the "Lord of the Rings" movies in December, but that no physical trading cards will be handed out at any of the theaters.

According to Sci-Fi Wire, the official site for the American science fiction cable network, the trailer will appear on about 800 screen in the top 10 media markets in the country. However, the specific theaters have yet to be determined.

In SyFy Portal's original story, Straczynski told Usenet visitors that trading cards would be available at some of the theaters. However, no actual trading cards will be available at the theaters, the cable channel spokeswoman said. Instead, cards will be available for download by visiting the official Web site at the Sci-Fi Channel. New cards will be released every Friday until Jan. 4.

"Legend of the Rangers" is executive-produced by Straczynski and Douglas Netter, and picks up the story of the Ranger fleet as it attempts to restore order to hundreds of civilizations devastated by the Shadow War. Sci-Fi Wire confirmed that the telemovie, which airs Jan. 19 at 9 p.m. ET, is a pilot for a possible new series on the cable channel.

"Lord of the Rings" opens Dec. 19 in theaters everywhere.
