Upcoming conflict on X-Files

There will be even more clashes between John Doggett and Dana Scully

If you thought there wasn't enough conflict between Dana Scully and John Doggett during last week's season premiere, expect more to come.

Robert Patrick, who plays Doggett on "The X-Files," said that while his character and Gillian Anderson's alter-ego have seen better days, it could be something that could kick start a better system of cooperation between Doggett and Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish).

"We've picked up right after the birth of Scully's baby," Patrick recently told Sci-Fi Wire. "We've introduced a couple of new characters, and we've closed a few doors, while opening up some whole new conspiracies and investigations.

"Scully's not happy with the way Doggett's proceeding with the investigation of the supersoldiers. It's confusing to me, because she flip-flops, and it just doesn't seem like her. There's a reason for that, and I don't know what it is. Doggett's also got coflict with Kersh (James Pickens Jr.). I don't trust him. Reyes and Doggett are now very clearly working together."

Now that David Duchovny has left the television aspect of "The X-Files," Patrick said that fans can expect Doggett to finally slip into the role left empty of Fox Mulder.

"I've toally assumed that place on the show, and at 'The X-Files,'" he said. "And that's interesting and unnerving for Doggett. Remember, he was a fast climber in the FBI and very well-respected. Now he finds himself totally alienated, and the friends he had in the FBI are no longer his friends."
