Don't Fear, Chloe Is Here ... On 'Smallville'

A new contract has been signed, and Allison Mack is now back for the eighth season of "Smallville" on The CW.

Michael Ausiello of TV Guide says Mack signed the new deal late Wednesday that can now allow the network (and fans) to breathe a much deserved sigh of relief.

Although details of the new contract were not released, Ausiello reports that it wlll make sure that Allison's character Chloe is a series regular, and will appear in all the typical episodes regulars show up in (like, you know, all of them).

A deal had been almost worked out before, according to reports, but following the official departure of Michael Rosenbaum from the series as Lex Luthor, Mack's representatives apparently used that as leverage to try and get a better deal for the actress as the show really couldn't handle too many more departures.

Luthor is being replaced by two bad guys in the eighth season that have yet to be cast, and the show will be run by a committee of producers next season following the departure of creators Al Gough and Miles Millar.

Now that the "Smallville" house is in order, scripts can continue at the pace they were already on in time for filming to start this summer.

"Smallville" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
