By MICHAEL HINMANThe Season 4 premiere earned a 1.6 household rating for the 10 p.m. slot, which translated into 2.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research and Multichannel News. All but 600,000 of those viewers were in the adults between the ages of 25 and 54 demographic, while all but 100,000 of those were between 18 and 49.
The numbers were the best live and same-day viewing numbers in the 18-to-49 demographic since the original airing of "Resurrection Ship, Part 2" in January 2006, and its best performance in the 25-to-54 demographic since the show's third season premiere in October 2006.
The numbers are at least a spike overall compared to the third season, which averaged about 1.9 million viewers during its second half. It has, however, matched the 2.1 million viewers that tuned into the first half of the season when it aired on Fridays, possibly indicating that it was good for SciFi Channel to move the show back to its Friday timeslot.
"Battlestar Galactica" airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on SciFi Channel.
