By MICHAEL HINMAN"Knight Rider," the new series that recently found its showrunner in Gary Scott Thompson, will take on the Wednesday 8 p.m. ET timeslot for NBC's fall schedule. It will kick off a night that will include "Deal or No Deal" and "Lipstick Jungle."
Encores of "Knight Rider" will run Saturdays at 9 p.m., which means "Heroes" no longer will get weekend encores on the network.
NBC announced its 2008-09 television schedule a bit earlier than other networks, saying they wanted to give advertisers a chance to see what the old Peacock -- which struggled heavily in the ratings last year -- was mustering for the small screen in the future.
"Heroes" will stay in its Mondays 9 p.m. slot with "Chuck" serving as its lead-in. Following "Heroes" will be a new show, "My Own Worst Enemy."
The genre shows are expected to keep their timeslots come winter, except the 10 p.m. hours on both Mondays and Wednesdays will change to include "The Philanthropist" and "Law & Order."
NBC is trying to go back to a more traditional schedule in 2008-09, said co-chairman Ben Silverman, which includes having family-oriented programming on at 8, big-name series on at 9, and the more adult dramas at 10. Silverman described the lineup as "inspirational, heroic and entertaining, making television a safe place for viewers looking to escape tough times in the real world," according to TV Week.
