'New Amsterdam' Finds Spot On Fox Schedule

Although it was already getting a strong boost by having an "American Idol" lead-in, it seems that Fox has finally found a home for its not really anticipated "Highlander"-like series, "New Amsterdam."

The show, which features an immortal homicide detective, will take over Mondays in a slot that was originally gifted to "When Women Rule the World," which seemingly has been pulled from Fox's schedule, according to Zap2it.

"New Amsterdam," which stars Nikolaj Coster Waldau, did not get a tremendous vote of confidence from Fox in the beginning, which apparently had already stopped production of new episodes for the show. However, with little else to offer in the form of scripted entertainment for the coming year, Fox gave "New Amsterdam" an "American Idol" lead-in on March 4 and March 6. It will take over Mondays beginning March 10.

Although Fox shook up its mid-season schedule quite a bit, none of the changes affected the channel's weekend programming, which includes "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."

It's not clear if the March 10 premiere of "New Amsterdam" will be the third episode of the season based on the "special preview" episodes leading out of "American Idol," or if Fox will start it right back at the beginning.
