By MICHAEL HINMANTV Guide's Michael Ausiello talked to "Star Trek XI" director J.J. Abrams to get confirmation that Morrison has indeed joined the cast, and that she is not playing Yeoman Janice Rand.
This is the first actor to be officially confirmed for the film that doesn't exactly include a character they will portray, and maybe there's a reason for that. It seems that Abrams worked hard to get her on board, describing her work in the first week of filming as "most excellent."
Morrison has played Dr. Allison Cameron on "House, M.D." since the show's inception, playing one of the former fellow doctors who worked with Gregory House. the 28-year-old actress got her start in the 1994 film "Intersection" when she was not even old enough to drive, and has appeared in other works including "Touched By An Angel" and "Dawson's Creek."
"Star Trek XI" began filming last week. It's stars include Leonard Nimoy, Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana, Winona Ryder, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine and Karl Urban. It's being readied for a Dec. 25, 2008 release.
