'Bionic Woman' Finally Gets New Showrunner

Jason Katims can finally take a break.

The former showrunner for "Roswell" had been working overtime running both "Friday Night Lights" and "Bionic Woman" on NBC, but he has to do it no more.

Jason Cahill has been named the new showrunner for "Bionic Woman," permanently replacing Glen Morgan who left just before the show premiered in what appears to be a movie that could signal a full-season pickup by the network.

This is the first time that Cahill has acted as a showrunner following a few writing stints on shows like "The Sopranos," "Profiler" and "Surface." However, he will be working with a core team that includes executive producers Jason Smilovic and current "Battlestar Galactica" executive producer David Eick on the show.

Going through the trouble of hiring a new showrunner means NBC continues to have confidence in the show, despite lower-than-expected ratings. Overnights from Wednesday's episodes will be out Thursday afternoon, which could give a good indication on where the program is trending audience wise.

"Bionic Woman" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
