Still No Date Set For BSG Premiere

The lesson here, we guess, is don't always believe everything you read in a press release.

La La Land Records, the company that distributes the "Battlestar Galactica" soundtracks, recently issued a press release declaring that not only would the show's fourth season premiere Jan. 11, but also would return to Friday nights, according to Battlestar Wiki. But apparently that's not the case.

A spokeswoman for SciFi Channel denied the date to SyFy Portal, saying only that the show would premiere its fourth season in "early 2008" and that it was "not January."

One source told SyFy Portal earlier this week that the fourth season would premiere in February, but added that no firm date has yet to be set. It's unclear if there is a move to return the show to Fridays, or if it would continue its Sunday airing.

What's getting lost in the press release, however, is the fact that the Season 3 soundtrack with music composed by Bear McCreary will go on sale Oct. 23. Also, the DVD version of "Razor," the "Battlestar Galactica" telemovie featuring the Battlestar Pegasus, will be released Dec. 4, more than a week following the broadcast of the extended episode on SciFi Channel. It is unclear if that date is also incorrect, however, executive producer Ronald D. Moore did say during a press conference last month that there was no guarantee NBC Universal would release the DVD the day after the broadcast, or if they may wait.

"Razor," by the way, airs Nov. 24.
