Production for "Jeremiah" is gearing up, and it had creator J. Michael Straczynski talking a couple weeks ago.

On Sept. 7, the first scene of the two-hour premiere of the Showtime series went before the camera with some preliminary second unit shots hours before the start of principal photography.

"As I write this, we have six more scripts already in hand, well in advance of getting to the episodes," Straczynski said in a message board post.

According to Straczynski, the episodes include "To Sail Beyond the Stars," "Tribes," and "Man of Iron, Woman Under Glass" all written by Straczynski. Sam Egan also has written some scripts including "The Bag," "The Touch" and "City of Roses."

"The show has a pretty solid pedigree, me from ('Babylon 5') and 'Twilight Zone,' Sam from 'Outer Limits' and 'Northern Exposure,'" Straczynski said. He also mentioned director Russell Mulcahy from the first two "Highlander" movies and the "On the Beach" miniseries, as well as designer Steve Gaeghan from "Stargate SG-1" and "Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers."

"It's a real good lineup, and both MGM and Showtime are enthusiastic about everything they've seen. It's a nice merging of a lot of (television science fiction) and mainstream worlds."

The new series also stars Luke Perry and Malcolm Jamal-Warner.

Thanks to "Miles" for the heads up.
