Believe it or not, the 2007 SyFy Genre Awards are already upon us, and it's time to start putting together the committee that will ultimately produce the list of this year's nominees.

Fans from all over the world are encouraged to apply for one of just 15 slots available on the Genre Awards Nominating Committee. Simply send an e-mail to mhinman@syfyportal.com and include your full name; what city and state/country you live in; and some of your favorite television shows and movies you've watched this past year, and you'll automatically be considered for a slot on the SyFy Genre Awards Nominating Committee.

Serving on the committee is easy. You will have a chance to discuss your favorites with other members of the committee, listen to ideas from committee members and even readers who who they think should be nominated, and at the very end, you will submit a special ballot that will be key to determing who will receive a Genre Award nomination and who won't.

The SyFy Genre Awards are in its seventh year, allowing readers to vote once per day for 30 days between June 15 and July 15 on their favorite television shows, actors and movies. It's one of the largest online virtual fan awards on the Internet with more than 1 million ballots being cast since its inception.

Deadline to apply is March 23, so don't waste too much time if you really want to have a voice.

Nominating committee members are chosen from hundreds of applicants based on a number of criteria including what shows they watch (we prefer to have a broad spectrum of likes and dislikes to help balance out the nominations), their interest in participating, how much access they have to shows airing in the United States first-run, and if they have participated on the committee before (returning committee members from 2006 get preference in this regard).
